Ian Maccubbin has joined Ares Commercial Finance as a principal for its business development and underwriting teams. He will be based in Boston and will assist in covering the Northeast market, where he will have cross-functional business development and underwriting responsibilities. Maccubbin has 18 years of experience in the financial industry and was most recently a principal on the Carlyle Group’s private credit team. In that role, he worked to build out an asset-based and asset-backed strategy within direct lending. Prior to that, he was a vice president at PNC Financial Services Group on the retail finance vertical team in a full utility position. At Ares Commercial Finance, Maccubbin will work to support the existing asset-based lending platform and expand its product suite, including first lien, split lien, FILO, and second lien transactions.
