The city’s zoning adjustments, such as eliminating single-family-only zoning and establishing building height minimums, have helped increase the city’s housing stock and address affordability issues. These policies have also attracted developers to the city and contributed to a decrease in homelessness. Other cities, including St. Paul, have begun adopting similar policies. However, some of Minneapolis’ zoning changes have faced legal challenges and have been rolled back.
