Chris Calvert, J.D., has been appointed as the new Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Northern Kentucky University. With previous experience as the CFO at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College since 2017, Calvert successfully led a financial turnaround from a deficit position to record surpluses and cash flow. His dedication to upholding NKU’s mission and balancing the budget by FY25 demonstrates his commitment to the university’s financial success.

Prior to his tenure at Cincinnati State, Calvert had experience outside of higher education, working in public accounting, corporate finance, and serving in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard for eight years. His strategic leadership talents and financial savvy are seen as essential qualities by NKU President Dr. Cady Short-Thompson, who is eager to bring Calvert’s expertise and experience to the university’s cabinet.

Calvert holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Miami University and a J.D. of Law degree from The University of Cincinnati College of Law. His appointment comes at a crucial time for NKU as they navigate financially challenging times, and his track record of financial success positions him as a valuable asset to the university’s leadership team.
